Audio examples of four radio mics – Creamy Radio Audio microphone shootout

MicDrool

Download audio of test.

I was doing a short part for a promo for my friends Ed and Ethan, and decided to have some fun with it. All four mics are through a Presonus Studio Channel Tube-Pre Amp / Compressor / Parametric EQ unit. You can get it on Amazon, HERE.

Mixer is a a Behringer XENYX X2442USB Premium 24-Input 4/2-Bus Mixer (get it HERE).

Mics are, in order, an Electro-Voice RE-20 (get it HERE – $475) a $230 Rode NT1-A Condenser Microphone, a Shure BETA 57A Microphone ($140), and a $99 Shure SM58.

Hope this helps. Enjoy!

  1. Hmm, give’s me an idea for a song, call it “Gear Whore’s Remorse”. Make it a partial tribute to all those kids who have 2 dozen effects pedals before they leave high school. ;)

Then people get older, wiser, and buy a rack mount effects processor/pre-amp, then somehow that gets out of control. Like this thing. ;) http://www.ishwish.net/AVMRig/AVM-gearnew6.jpg
